GCE holders submit the Advanced and Ordinary Level results with the grading system; that is a different document list from a WASSC.

The trigger is your result, not a date on a calendar: WAEC had not published a release date when this guide was written. Start counting the day your result is released.
Within the first weeks
Settle the route before anything else: a WASSC points to the Studienkolleg, which is a one-year course taught in German. Which Studienkolleg, and which course type, decides everything after it. [4]

Why the winter intake is already gone
uni-assist states that the application deadline is often 15 July for a course starting in the winter semester. A WASSCE result released in August arrives after it, whatever the result says.
What is lost is a semester, not a year. The summer intake commonly closes on 15 January, which leaves roughly five months of preparation, and that is a usable run for documents and for German. [3]
The Studienkolleg makes it two applications, and one earlier date
For Nigeria and for Ghana alike, uni-assist states that a WASSC qualifies its holder for the Studienkolleg if the requirements are met, and describes the Studienkolleg as a one-year preparatory course, usually taught in German. So the first thing you apply for is not the degree.
That matters for the calendar more than for the paperwork: uni-assist names Studienkolleg courses, along with master's programmes, as the typical case where universities set earlier deadlines than the standard ones.
