On this page

uni-assist's application portal is My assist at my.uni-assist.de; registration, login, document upload and payment all happen there, and uni-assist asks applicants to use exactly one account. If you cannot log in, the two usual causes are an account that was never activated (the emailed activation link is valid for 24 hours; once it expires you register again) and a forgotten password (reset it on the portal's Forgot-password page with your registration email and a captcha). A note on addresses: you are reading this on uni-assist.com, an independent application service; the official portal is on the uni-assist.de side.

Applicants trying to sign in to a My assist account, or about to create one.

  • The login lives at my.uni-assist.de

The official portal is called My assist. Registration, applications, document upload and payment all run through this one portal.

  • The activation link lasts 24 hours

The link emailed after registration dies within a day if unused. Check your spam folder; if the link is dead, uni-assist's answer is to register again.

  • Opening a second account

uni-assist states plainly that multiple accounts can cause problems with your application. One My assist account serves all applications and semesters.

The right address first

uni-assist asks applicants to always use the My assist portal for their applications; the portal lives at my.uni-assist.de. The account works together with your personal seven-digit uni-assist applicant number, and the same account serves applications across semesters.

The honest explanation of the address confusion: uni-assist.de is the site of uni-assist e.V., the official evaluation body, and My assist is its portal. uni-assist.com, where you are reading this, is an independent application service; the full comparison of the two names sits in its own guide. The login on our portal does not work with a My assist account; the two accounts are entirely separate. [1][3]

Cannot log in: the activation trap

If you registered but cannot sign in, uni-assist's own FAQ gives the sequence: after registration an activation link arrives by email, and that link is valid for 24 hours. Check the spam folder first. If the email never arrived or the link has expired, the fix is the same: register again. [2]

Resetting the password

For a forgotten password you go to the portal's Forgot-password page, enter the email address you used to register in My assist and solve the captcha; the reset email goes to that address. The key to the reset is therefore your registration email: if you are not sure which address you registered with, settle that first. [2]

Still locked out?

For problems beyond activation and passwords, the right counterpart is uni-assist's own contact channels; which channel handles what is laid out in our separate guide. One warning on the one-account rule: do not route around a login problem by opening a second account, because uni-assist states plainly that multiple accounts can cause problems with your application. [2][1]

If the hurdle is the application, not the portal

A password reset takes two minutes; the application behind it does not. Our service prepares and submits your uni-assist application for you: eligibility, documents, the portal steps and the deadlines. You approve the key decisions.

  • A file checked before anything is submitted
  • Deadlines and portal steps tracked for you
  • One advisor, visible status; payment only after the document pre-check
